We are constantly working to reduce our environmental footprint, and Jute helps us do just that. Being a strong fiber crop that doesn’t require a lot of inputs and pulls tons of carbon out of the atmosphere means it is doing great things for your bag and the planet! Here are a few of our favorite qualities about Jute:
- Jute improves soil health by increasing organic matter, improving soil structure, suppressing weeds, improving water retention, and providing habitat for beneficial soil organisms
- It is extremely low maintenance and requires no chemical inputs like fertilizers and pesticides.
- It is SUPER renewable meaning it reaches its maturity in just 4-6 months. When using natural resources, it is important to make sure that we do not use them at a rate faster than which they can replenish.
